Tracking down unreported rental income
23 Mar. 2015
The Tax Control Plan for 2015 in Spain was published last March 13. The Plan is based on three main pillars: tax fraud investigation, tax collection fraud and cooperation between the State and Regional Tax Offices.
The first pillar focuses on thirteen areas including the investigation on foreign assets, international tax planning, VAT fraud, etc.
As part of the plan, the Tax Authorities will prosecute owners who do not declare rental income, using a crawler that searches properties offered through Internet and social networks. The IRS in the USA pioneered in 2010 the use of this type of software, also used now in Germany, Sweden, Austria, UK and Canada.
