9 Mar. 2015

For the second time, JC&A Abogados has hosted the GGI International Taxation Practice Group (ITPG) meeting that took place in Marbella last February 19-22, three years later further to Amsterdam-2013 and Milan-2014 winter meetings.

A high-class tax training Meeting, counting with 44 delegates and several accompanying persons, not only European but also members from Canada, Colombia, India, Mexico, South Africa and USA, sharing their knowledge, skills and the latest tax regulations in their countries. And why not mention it, some of them escaping from a severe cold winter to enjoy a warm and relaxed atmosphere in the south of Spain.

The program started with the presentation of an international tax planning software, followed by a Case Study on international holding and trade companies. An intense and highly practical tax workshop where 6 Teams had 3 hours to prepare a 10 minutes presentation explaining “Which country would be best to install a holding company?”. A jury awarded the wining team.

The program continued with presentations on “Taxation of Indirect Transfers and how do different countries tax such indirect transfers” (India), “Cross-border financing using hybrid instruments” (Canada), “Split salary according to art.15 OECD” (Netherlands), “Transfer pricing litigation – case history with Italian Tax Authorities” (Italy), “Spanish Golden Visa and the Spanish tax reform” (Spain-host), “Treaty Abuse under BEPS – LOB, GAAR, both” (USA) and “Update on planned major corporation tax reform in Switzerland” (Switzerland), followed by a talk about “Compliance rules” for both accountants and lawyers and a Case Study on “Base erosion/profit shifting” with a panel of 8 members including the chairmen from different countries.

We thank all participants, and specially those who have travelled from far away to attend this meeting. Only positive feedback was received from the participants and for sure this will not be the last event to be held in Marbella as per the final comments about next editions of the ITPG Winter Meetings.
